Your trusted guide to settling in, finding a home, and feeling at home in New Brunswick.
Relocating for a military posting can be both exciting and overwhelming — especially when it means packing up your family and starting fresh in a new province. If you’re being posted to CFB Gagetown in Oromocto, New Brunswick, you’re heading to one of the most welcoming, family-friendly areas in the Maritimes.
As a REALTOR® who has proudly helped many CAF and RCMP families relocate to the Fredericton and Oromocto area, I know how unique each move can be. This guide is here to help make your transition as smooth as possible — from where to live, to how to get connected once you arrive.

🏠 Finding the Right Neighborhood Near CFB Gagetown
When it comes to choosing a place to live, convenience, schools, and community all matter. Luckily, the Fredericton–Oromocto area offers something for every lifestyle and budget.
Top Neighbourhoods to Consider:
-
Lincoln Heights: One of the most popular areas for military families. Located between Fredericton and Oromocto, it offers newer homes, quiet streets, and a quick 15-minute commute to base.
-
Oromocto West: Ideal for families who want to be right in town. Close to schools, parks, and recreation centers, you’ll find both newer builds and established homes.
-
New Maryland: A peaceful, family-oriented community just outside Fredericton. Great schools, a strong community feel, and easy highway access to Gagetown.
-
Fredericton South Side: Perfect if you prefer city amenities — shops, restaurants, and quick access to major routes.
Each area has its own charm, and I’m always happy to help you find a community that feels right for your family.
🧾 Understanding the Relocation Process (IRP Moves)
If you’re relocating under the Integrated Relocation Program (IRP), there are a few key steps to keep in mind:
-
Connect early with your BGRS or SIRVA advisor to understand your entitlements and approved supplier lists.
-
Choose a local REALTOR® familiar with BGRS transactions — someone who understands timelines, forms, and the importance of quick communication. I am listed with the BGRS/ SIRVA providers as a local REALTOR®
-
Plan your house-hunting trip (HHT) well in advance. Homes in Fredericton and Oromocto can move quickly, especially during posting season.
-
Get pre-approved before your HHT so you can make strong, confident offers when you find “the one.”
(Tip: I work closely with lenders and lawyers familiar with military moves to help make the entire process seamless.)
